Nepal’s government has just announced a nationwide ban on solo trekkers. It requires travellers looking to hike across its stunning remote landscapes to hire an officially licensed guide.
The reason behind such changes was to ensure the safety and security of the visitors. “All trekkers are required to obtain services of a licensed trekking guide and TIMS(Trekking Information Management System) card through authorised trekking agencies registered with the Government of Nepal”, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) said in the statement.
The new price for a SAARC citizen is Rs. 1000 and Rs. 2000 for the rest of the world.
